THE BOARD

Richard Ryan, AO, FCA Chairman Richard Ryan joined the Auspep Board in 2005. He has many years of experience as an accountant, chief executive and company director. He is currently a director of Lincoln Minerals Limited and Chancellor of Charles Darwin University. He is also a member of the Australian Government Solicitor's Advisory Board. Mr Ryan is a former Chairman of the Governing Board of Menzies School of Health Research and the past President of the National Heart Foundation of Australia. He was CEO of Walker Eltin Group from 1987 to May 2002. Richard is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Companion of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.

John Andreas Nissen Director John Nissen joined the Auspep Board in 2003. He has over 30 years of experience in stockbroking beginning his career with Geoffrey Webb & Co in Melbourne, which subsequently merged with Potters Partners, now a part of UBS Warburg. After international experience in London, Mr Nissen became a partner of McCaughan Dyson and Company for 5 years. During this time he was involved in the establishment of the corporate finance department at McCaughan Dyson that specialized in capital raisings and initial public offerings. Since 1989, John has been involved in the resort hospitality industry. He is the current chairman and director of two timeshare resorts in Australia with a combined ownership base of approximately 5,000 members. He is a director of State Development Fund Limited and Australian Regional Airports Pty Ltd and a minority shareholder of Auspep Holdings Ltd.

Christopher Chandler PhD Managing Director Chris Chandler joined Auspep in 1987 and the Board in 2003. He was awarded his Doctorate by La Trobe University in 1985. Specialising in Organic Chemistry he spent four years as a senior research fellow at both La Trobe University and the Victorian College of Pharmacy. He was appointed as Managing Director of Auspep in 1990.

Legh Hewitson Davis, LLB, B.EC, FCPA Director Legh Davis joined the Auspep board in 2005. He was elected to represent the Liberal Party in the Legislative Council in 1979 and retired at the South Australian State Election held in February 2002. During his term in Parliament he was Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and was party spokesman in a number of portfolio areas. Legh specialized in economic and financial issues and also small business. After completing four years as a lecturer in Law and Economics at the South Australian Institute of Technology, Mr Davis became an Investment Advisor with AC Goode and Co. and was appointed State Manager in 1978. He remained there until 1990 when he became consultant to Todd Partners, now a part of the RBS Morgans national network. Legh is currently State Chairman of RBS Morgans in South Australia and is a Board member of Artbank. He is a former State President of the Securities Institute of Australia.

Professor A. Ian Smith PhD Director Professor Smith joined the Auspep Board in 2005. He obtained his PhD from Monash University. He is currently a Professional Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Monash University and actively consults to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Professor Smith is highly regarded both locally and internationally for his expertise in the biology of peptides. He is co-chairman of the Australian Peptide Society.

SENIOR MANAGEMENT

Christopher Chandler PhD Managing Director Chris Chandler joined Auspep in 1987 and the Board in 2003. He was awarded his Doctorate by La Trobe University in 1985. Specialising in Organic Chemistry he spent four years as a senior research fellow at both La Trobe University and the Victorian College of Pharmacy. He was appointed as Managing Director of Auspep in 1990.

Robert Bothof BSc App Biol, MBA General Manager and GMP Production Manager Robert Bothof joined Auspep in 2005 and is responsible for the general management of Auspep and production management of the GMP facility. He has vast experience in managing business systems and infrastructure to support scientific operations. This experience is complemented by extensive expertise in the design, construction and fit out of scientific facilities. He has worked as a consultant and operations manager in a variety of workplaces. These workplaces include public institutions and private companies such as The University of Queensland, Bond University, Victorian College of Pharmacy, Alchemia Pty Ltd, The ForBio Group, Peanut Company of Australia, Promics Pty Ltd and Xenome Ltd.

William Rule BAppSci Quality Assurance Manager William Rule joined Auspep in 1992. He has extensive experience in both manual and automated peptide chemistry, amino acid analysis and chromatography. Graduating from the laboratory to a role in quality management in 1998, he has had training in internal auditing, OH&S management and database management. Bill has overseen the ISO9002:1994 Quality Management System and its successors ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001: 2008 for Auspep Pty Ltd. Since 2005 Bill has also been involved in the implementation and maintenance of the GMP systems as well as facilitating regulatory affairs.

James Finlayson BSc Production Manager and Chromatography Team Leader James Finlayson joined Auspep in 1990. He has extensive experience in all facets of peptide chromatography and amino acid analysis. He started his career at Auspep as a separations chemist and became Production Manager of Auspep in 2002.

Jane Yang PhD Chemistry Team Leader Jane Yang joined Auspep in 2005. She was awarded her doctorate by RMIT University in 2005, specialising in synthetic organic chemistry. She has extensive experience in all areas of manual and automated peptide chemistry. Jane commenced her career at Auspep as a senior chemist and currently holds the position of Chemistry Team Leader.
